Applications invited from people with a learning disability for the position of co-chair of a new learning disability advisory group

Welsh Government are looking for a person with a learning disability who is interested in becoming the co-chair of a new learning disability advisory group, which will be set up in 2012.

The co-chair will stand up for learning disability issues and provide advice to Welsh Ministers. This group follows on from the Learning Disability Implementation Advisory Group (LDIAG).

Position

Co-chair of an Advisory Group

Purpose of the Post

To stand up for learning disability issues and provide advice to Welsh Ministers on these issues.

Venue for the meetings:

To be decided at the first meeting of the group.

Commitment

The group will meet about six times a year. Some of the work will be taken forward by sub-groups which will meet separately from the main group.

Support for the post

The Welsh Government has agreed to provide support for this post through All Wales People First.

Remuneration

The post is unpaid although your travel and subsistence costs will be repaid.

Welsh Government is looking for:

  1. Someone who is interested in Welsh learning disability policy.
  2. Someone who understands what matters to people with a learning disability in Wales.
  3. Someone who has had Chairing experience.
