Learning Disability Wales Events

Learning Disability Wales wants to make sure that all of our members are up to date with what's going on in world of learning disability or health and social care. To do this we organise one-off events where we might share a piece of best practice and consultation events where people have a chance to give their views on policy that is being developed. We also hold an Annual Conference every year, which gives a chance to spend a whole day looking at a topic or theme that we think our members are interested in.

Learning Disability Wales - Annual Conference 2008
This year's Annual Conference will explore new ways to take control and design a positive life. Workshops, theatre presentations and cafe forum style exhibitors will look at alternatives and new ways to improve the quality of life for people with learning disabilities.

An Introduction to Person Centred Planning

This is an opportunity for a person with a learning disability, a parent/ carer or anyone working with or supporting someone with a disability to learn about some new ways of working that are beginning to be widely used across Wales. Person Centred Planning is, put simply, a way of working and planning with people who have disabilities to make sure that they get what they want from life. This course will introduce people to the principles that underpin Person Centred Planning and will also teach you how to use the basic planning 'tools' necessary to achieve this.

Young People as Disability Awareness Trainers - New Course!

If we are expecting staff who run mainstream services (for example, youth and leisure services) to positively include young disabled people, we need to make sure they have a good understanding of disability. This course has been created as the first step in increasing the number of young people with a learning disability who can become trainers in disability issues.
